Tea being poured into small white cups

Since 1997

Our Story

A small shop. A big love for Nepali tea.

In 1997, a small tea shop opened its doors in Swotha Tole, Lalitpur. The idea was simple: sell honest tea, and share it with everyone who walked in.

Nepal's tea comes from some of the most beautiful hillsides on earth. We wanted people to taste it properly: whole leaf, fresh and unrushed. Almost three decades later, that is still what Patan Tea is about.

Chapter one

It starts on the hill

Good tea begins with good hands. On steep green slopes, pickers move through the bushes plucking only the youngest leaves and buds, carrying them down in woven baskets.

We have always believed you can taste that care in the cup. So we buy from the gardens we trust, and we pay attention to where each tea comes from.

Chapter two

A shop on Swotha Tole

The shelves have changed colour over the years, but the welcome hasn't. Come in and you'll find tea in jars and tins, a scale on the counter, and someone ready to talk about what you like to drink.

We have never been in a hurry. A good cup takes a few minutes, and so does a good conversation.

Chapter three

Friends from everywhere

Over the years, visitors from near and far have ducked through our door: students, hikers, collectors and curious wanderers. Many came for one cup and stayed for the stories.

Their photographs fill our albums, and their kind words are the best thing we have ever been paid.

Today

Come, have a mindful cup.

The tea is better than ever and the door is still open. Visit us in Lalitpur, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll help you choose.
